How much does it cost?
Naturally this will depend on the type of service you want. The prices quoted are based on current prices for similar funerals. We offer a choice of plans or we can tailor something to meet your individual requirements. Don’t worry – you won’t need to commit before you know the total price involved.
What if the cost of funerals increases?
It won’t affect you. With our all-inclusive plan, once you’ve paid the full plan price you won’t have to make any additional payments for the services listed in your plan paperwork as long as your requirements don’t change. With our Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum plans, you can fix our costs and make a contribution to third party costs.
How do I know that my money will be safe?
Our funeral pre-payment plans are provided by Ecclesiastical Planning Services which is part of the Ecclesiastical group. Funds are held securely and cannot be used for anything else for your peace of mind. The funeral plan funds are held in guaranteed whole of life assurance policies with a life assurance company that is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and regulated by the PRA and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Funeral plans themselves are not regulated by the PRA or FCA but are regulated by the Funeral Planning Authority.
Will there be any other costs at the time of the funeral?
There will never be any further charge for the services provided by us, as specified in your chosen plan. However a funeral also involves fees for the cemetery or crematorium and doctors’ examinations, the minister, flowers, press notices etc, some of which cannot be predicted in advance. We recommend that you include a contribution towards these costs but it may need to be supplemented at the time of the funeral. Our all-inclusive plan covers the third party costs listed in the plan details.
Can I buy a plan for someone else?
Yes. Just let us know who the plan is for when you order, and Ecclesiastical Planning Services will send all correspondence to you. All orders are treated in confidence.
How do I pay for my plan?
Most people prefer the convenience of making one payment, so they don’t need to think about it anymore. You can give us a cheque (payable to Ecclesiastical Planning Services or EPS) with your application form, or you can post them direct to the national office of Ecclesiastical Planning Services.
Can I pay by instalments?
Yes. You can choose to pay over 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 years. Please note there is an additional cost for paying by instalments over 24, 36, 48 and 60 months. The additional cost is held in the pre-payment plan and used for the funeral when the time comes. If you choose to pay by monthly instalments and you wish to stop paying for any reason, you can either cancel the plan and receive a refund of the money you have paid excluding the management fee, or you can leave what you have paid in the plan to be used as a contribution to your funeral when the time comes.
And, if your plan is needed before you have completed your instalments, the payments you have made will be used as a contribution to your funeral and your wishes will be clearly documented, giving your family peace of mind.
What if I die away from home?
The plan does not cover the cost of a funeral abroad, or the cost of repatriating the deceased. It is therefore important that your travel insurance policy covers this situation.
What if I move out of the area?
If you move away from Merseyside or Cheshire Ecclesiastical Planning Services can transfer your plan to another qualified funeral director convenient to your new home. Funeral costs do vary from one area to another and you will be advised of any change in cost at that stage.
What if I change my mind later?
This is not a problem. Customers occasionally have second thoughts about the type of funeral they want and it is reassuring to know that you can change your mind if you want to. We will advise on the alternatives available and make changes to your plan if necessary – this may affect the plan price depending on what you require. Our aim is to ensure that your plan remains right for you.
Can I cancel my plan?
Yes, you can cancel your plan at any time. If you choose to cancel the plan up to 30 days from the date of purchase you’ll receive a full refund. If you cancel the plan after 30 days, you’ll receive a refund of the original amount paid, excluding the management fee.
